FABRIC
Constructed from 100% cotton 250G luxury-grade piqué fabric. Rather than blindly pursuing excessive heavyweight material, the fabric choice was inspired by the refined texture commonly found in GUCCI polo shirts. The result is a dense yet soft hand feel that maintains both structure and comfort when worn.

FIT
The silhouette draws inspiration from one of MOWALOLA’s most iconic polo fits from recent years. It delivers a sharp, slightly tailored appearance while still maintaining strong body tolerance and ease of wear — perfectly aligned with the mood of this collection. The collar has also been refined to reference the classic proportions of vintage Ralph Lauren polos.

CONCEPT
A year after leaving CELINE, Hedi publicly stated that the brand should “begin a new chapter instead of continuing to use my old script,” sparking ongoing discussions about the relationship between designers and the brands they shape.

It often feels as though, outside of founding designers, creators can never truly leave their names attached to the worlds they built. Even after departure, corporations continue extending their visual language, reproducing fragments of their aesthetic identity, while the original creator loses both authorship and control.

In our view, there is nothing wrong with fashion corporations purchasing art or artists choosing to sell their work. The issue begins when temporary creative output evolves into the endless replication of an artist’s entire personality and visual language. Whether Hedi was directly involved or not, much of what followed at CELINE felt less like continuation and more like appropriation.

RYE itself has always existed as a chaotic underground label. So we took one of CELINE’s most recognizable leopard patterns from recent years, reconstructed it into a polo shirt, and openly signed it with “Hedi.” It feels provocative, slightly disrespectful, but also strangely honest — serving as our own commentary on the relationship between authorship, fashion, and imitation.
